An Overview of Urban Food Insecurity in Uganda and How to Measure It
Please join us for the first spring semester faculty meeting of the Food Institute on Thursday, February 9th from 1-2 PM in the Old Main Geography Conference Room. We will be hearing from Dr. Diana Caley on measuring urban food security through the lens of her research in Kampala, Uganda.
Dr. Caley graduated from George Washington University with a B.A. in International Development and minor in Economics and earned her Ph.D from NYU’s Food Studies program. Dr. Caley served in the Peace Corps in Morocco, and has worked and conducted research on food security and economic development in Egypt, Iraq, Peru, Uganda, Tanzania, and Yemen. Drawing on her extensive qualitative and survey research in Kampala, she will discuss how various food security indicators perform for targeting, monitoring, and evaluation of policy and program interventions in urban environments.
