Let’s Talk Food: Brunch with Former USDA AMS Administrator Elanor Starmer

Calling all GW foodies! The GW Food Institute invites all students to brunch with Elanor Starmer: the former Administrator of the United States Department of Agriculture’s Agricultural Marketing Serivce (AMS).

Under the Obama administration, Elanor coordinated the USDA’s work on local and regional food systems. She ran the Know Your Farmer, Know Your Food initiative and acted as liaison to the FDA on the Food Safety Modernization Act (FSMA). Elanor also has experience working in the non-profit sector on rural development, agriculture and water policy issues in the United States and Latin America.

Elanor holds an M.S. in Agriculture Science and Policy from Tufts University’s Friedman School, an M.A. in Development Economics from the Fletcher School, and a B.A. from Brown. She grew up in a rural farming community of 700 in New Hampshire’s White Mountains. Elanor now serves as a Senior Fellow of the Food Institute.
