The Store
About The Store:
The Store is a student-run food pantry at the George Washington University (GW) that is managed by the Store student organization and the Center for Student Engagement, providing resources and support for students living with food insecurity. Over the past couple of years, the awareness of this need has increased on college campuses as students make hard choices about how to spend their limited resources. The Store was founded on the principles of Faith, Trust, and Respect and these values guide our work every day. Our mission is to address student need at GW by offering food and other resources to ensure that every student has the opportunity to succeed.
How it works:
Shoppers access the pantry by using their GWorld cards to tap into the Store and shoppers are free to choose from a variety of items that meet their needs. Once a shopper has made their selections, they are asked to record this on a computer so we have a sense of what our students prefer so we can stock the most popular and needed items.
Location:
District House Room B121
2121 H Street, NW
Washington, DC 20052
Hours of Operation:
Daily from 6:00 am to 2:00 am
Volunteers will be in the space from 12 noon – 2 pm on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays
How to Help:
Volunteer!
The Store would not be able to operate without the valued help of our volunteers and the Store student organization that recruits, trains, and manages our volunteers. Volunteers stock shelves, clean the Store, pick up and deliver food from our partners, and manage the overall upkeep of the Store. Volunteers are required to complete one Volunteer Training Session before they may begin work in order to learn more about us and how they can make a difference on campus. We welcome both student organizations and groups of students!

Food Items:
The Store is a proud partner of the Capital Area Food Bank. If you are interested in donating food items to the Store, we kindly ask that you donate them to the Capital Area Food Bank.
Financial Donations:
The Store has been made possible through the generous philanthropic support of GW families, alumni, faculty, staff, students, and friends. We are extremely thankful for their support and welcome additional philanthropic donations to assist in providing this needed resource to GW students. Gifts will allow us to purchase fresh produce through Hungry Harvest and Whole Foods as well as supplemental resources from GroceryU and many of our other partners.
If you would like to provide philanthropic support of the Store, please donate through the university.
Other Donations:
If you have any of these items to donate, please bring them to Colonial Crossroads on the 5th floor of the Marvin Center and leave them with the Front Desk.

We are always in need of grocery bags for students to use when they visit the Store.
